Abstract

Being considered under Hofstede’s 6-D model, one of Vietnamese cultural typical dimensions is collectivism. This dimension comes to exist as time goes by because of the natural environment where the Vietnamese work and live together, and the history of defending the country through wars, contributing to shaping the identity of Vietnamese people with typical characteristics reflected in culture of villages, farming, and festivals and folk games. Especially, such a dimension has clear influences on the Vietnamese communication in terms of both verbal and non-verbal communication.
