Edge computing

Abstract

Edge computing is a distributed computing paradigm that brings computation and data storage closer to the location where it is needed, rather than relying on a centralized data center. By processing data at the edge of the network, closer to the source of generation, edge computing reduces latency, enhances real-time processing capabilities, and improves overall system efficiency. This approach is particularly beneficial for applications that require low latency, such as Internet of Things (IoT) devices, autonomous vehicles, and smart cities. However, edge computing also presents challenges such as security vulnerabilities, scalability issues, connectivity constraints, and data management complexities. Through a detailed review of current research, practical case studies, and emerging solutions, this paper aims to provide a foundational understanding of the technical obstacles in edge computing and offer directions for future research and development to address these issues effectively.
