Abstract

This exploration delves into the profound influence of Indian epics, particularly the Ramayana and Mahabharata, on traditional attire and fashion. Woven within Sanskrit literature, these epics shape cultural symbolism, historical aesthetics, and societal values reflected in clothing. Sanskrit intricately crafts the textures of attire, delving into symbolic meanings and connecting societal values with the characters' attire through the philosophy of "Purushartha." The impact on Indian textiles, rituals, ceremonies, and identity continuity is discussed, showcasing the indelible mark left by the epics on traditional clothing. Emotional and cultural influences on traditional Indian attire highlight garments as vessels for emotional connection and cultural identity. This mindful connection is explored in therapeutic interventions, personal development, social cohesion, education, community celebrations, and sustainable fashion practices. Traditional attire becomes a conduit for cultural mindfulness, weaving stories, values, and traditions, extending beyond fashion to touch upon mindfulness, cultural identity, social bonds, education, therapy, and sustainability. Garments serve as conduits of well-being, cultural richness, and mindful living, seamlessly intertwining tradition with contemporary psychology.
