Abstract

This paper focuses on exploring the ability of artificial intelligence models (AI) in video game development for path finding. Path finding is a major component of video games that allows non-playable characters (NPCs) to navigate their complex 3D or 2D environment, to interact with the player realistically. The most frequent context is found in real-time strategy games. In recent years, AI algorithms have been extensively used for path finding and other design-specific works, offering more advanced and effective methods compared to conventional algorithms. This paper will examine the challenges and limitations of using AI for path finding in video games and the need for domain-specific knowledge.
